D is for DEPLOYMENT

Doug is deploying to Afghanistan for 391 DAYS. We don't know today how we will make it through. Today was our worst day since finding out a week ago. He will not travel to Ethiopia to pick up the baby. We have struggled for the past three years to become parents; now we must fight again through the end of 2010 until Doug comes home. My love and my heart will care for our troops as they fight for our Freedom. I am tremendously proud yet overwhelmingly horrified. If you have time in your day, please pray for my husband, LT. Douglas R. Gugger, MC and for all the men and women deployed. Words can not express how tough this is.

I will certainly keep your family in our prayers. Please tell your husband that we thank him for his service and this huge sacrifice! Please let him know that we are so thankful that he is willing to go to freedom's frontier in order to keep us safe here at home. And thank you for your sacrifice of living (and adopting) without your spouse for a year. My husband is an officer in the army and he has done two deployments of at least a year. The only way to make it is by relying on God. He can give you the strength to make it through this. I am praying for you.

Blessings,
Veronica

Amy and Doug
I want to introduce you sometime soon to a friend of mine, Gina Doyle, whose son has just returned from Afghanistan a day before the holiday. She has a great amount of compassion, strength ,humor and love and I really think that being so close to where you live, she will be a huge asset to you while Doug is working. She has some insight into how the military works, in particular the Army. She also has a number of contacts that can help you with so much. Prayers abound....talk with you soon
He is making a huge difference and we are very proud of him for doing this.
You have our unending support with whatever you may need....anything. We're close and will be able to help.

Hello Miss Amy! It was so lovely to meet with you yesterday and relive so much of what we went through in our wait for Micah Moo. We're praying for you and for a referral soon in this house daily.

Can't wait to see you again!

My thoughts are with you. I know too well how hard it is to have a loved one so far away serving our country. My dad served in both Gulf Wars. But I still can't imagine if it were me in your situation. I thank you and your husband for your sacrifice.

Hi Amy! Thanks for your note :) I agree...September is our month! (As you can see, I have hit the stage of having my Blackberry by my side at all times!)

Oh Amy.....You and Doug are in our prayers. I know this is going to be one of your toughest years, but it will also be full of blessings. That baby is lucky to have two very special parents. I wish I lived closer and could offer more help. I'm here if you need to talk.
Love you,
Desserae
